There was a lot of conjecture and speculation that the Michigan Wolverines football program would (or perhaps should) move on from head coach Jim Harbaugh. Despite all of those talks, however, that doesn’t appear to be happening anytime soon, as their AD, Warde Manuel, announced the school had extended Harbaugh through 2025 as of Friday. The deal is slated to net him at least $4 million per season, but he can earn more through performance incentives.
After a strong showing in the NFL, he was expected to be the coach to take Michigan back to national glory, but he has so far produced a record of just 49-22 overall in six seasons, with 16 of those losses coming in the Big Ten. He has yet to defeat direct rival Ohio State, and they have lost the last four bowl games they have played in under him. We’ll see how this goes, but you have to think he’s had the ‘time’ that many coaches ask for.
