The big story in the NBA on Wednesday night, without a doubt, was the return of James Harden to Houston. How would the fans there treat him after he quite literally forced his way out of the city? The answer was what most would have thought- a mixed reaction. His reaction, though, was anything but that as he led the Brooklyn Nets to an emphatic 132-114 victory thanks in large part to his triple-double. Having scored 29 points to go along with ten rebounds and 14 assists, he piled even more misery upon the Rockets than he already had.
With his departure, the team has fallen into a deep malaise, and this loss was their 13th consecutive, sinking them to an 11-23 record. The Nets, meanwhile, who were without the services of Kevin Durant on this particular evening, moved up to 24-13 with the win. That makes it two in a row for them and it means they have dropped just one game in their last 11. They are now just a half-game back of the Sixers, and with the way they’re playing, it’s hard to make a case that they will not overcome them before the end of the season.
