It’s been quite the time for Kevin Harvick in NASCAR’s return to racing following the shutdown for the pandemic. His win at Pocono on Saturday in the first of two races this weekend, gave him three wins since the Cup Series came back to the track. He also remains the points leader as well, as many would expect from such a dominant showing.
Harvick had came into the ‘Tricky Triangle’ looking for a first career win at the track in his 39th attempt. Having won virtually everywhere else, he had lost some close ones over the years. This time, however, would be different, as he won a close one, holding off a late-charging Denny Hamlin to win a race that was decided largely on track position and strategy (the two took only two tires on their last pit stop). He’s now got 52 total wins and only has two tracks on the schedule he has not won at. Aric Almirola, Christopher Bell, and Kyle Busch rounded out a pretty strange looking top-5.
