Heat Close Out Sixers In Philly, Doncic Helps Mavs Force Game 7

The Miami Heat are headed to the Eastern Conference Finals. That was confirmed on Thursday night as they picked up a 99-90 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers, winning the series four games to two. And honestly, the score isn’t really indicative of how close it was; the Heat led by 20 points with just over five minutes remaining. Jimmy Butler was phenomenal, scoring nearly a third of his team’s points by recording 32 while Max Strus continued his fine form by putting up 20 points and grabbing 11 rebounds.

The Heat’s vaunted defense held Joel Embiid and James Harden to a combined 31 points, easily pushing them over the top and into the ECF where they will await either Boston or Milwaukee. In the late game, the Dallas Mavericks held serve at home to ensure they’d get a trip back to Phoenix to take on the Suns in a Game 7. The Mavs, led by Luka Doncic’s 33 points, 11 rebounds, and eight assists, utilized a dominant second quarter to pull away from their visitors, and they never looked back once clear of them. Through six games, the home team has achieved victory in this series, so Game 7 will be heavily favored to go to Phoenix, you’d have to think, despite this result for Dallas.
