It’s very early days still in the Major League Baseball season, no doubt, but so far things are going to plan for the San Diego Padres. Tasked with trying to keep up with the Los Angeles Dodgers in the NL West, they are off to a 2-0 start after Eric Hosmer and Blake Snell showed them the way.
Hosmer hit his second home run of the early season, a two-run shot that put his team up 3-0 in the bottom of the third. He then singled in another run to give them a 4-2 lead in the seventh, ultimately the final score. Snell, meanwhile, was making his debut on the mound for his new team, and he didn’t disappoint, even if he was pulled after 4 2/3. He had eight strikeouts and gave up four hits with no runs. Not a bad start, especially considering the pressure their spending will have placed upon their shoulders.
