Nikola Jokic, despite the slow start for his team, continues to produce excellent numbers on the floor for the Denver Nuggets. In doing so on Tuesday night, he set the table for them to improve to 3-4 thus far with a 123-116 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves. Jokic had 35 points, 13 of which came in the game’s fourth quarter to turn the tide, and also was able to pull down 15 rebounds to post an impressive double-double. That makes it ten straight wins over that particular opponent. D’Angelo Russell also posted a double-double of his own in defeat, scoring 33 points and dishing out 11 assists.
In other action, the Los Angeles Lakers, defending champions, got an ugly 94-92 victory over the Memphis Grizzlies. Neither team shot better that 43% from the field, but in the end the star power of LeBron James and Anthony Davis, both of whom had 26 points, was able to take them to the win over the Grizz. LeBron also had 11 rebounds for a double-double. The same can be said of Jonas Valanciunas of the Grizzlies. He had one as well, though he had a team-high 13 points to go along with 11 board like LeBron had. With the win, the Lakers remained perfect on the road and went to 6-2 on the season while Memphis fell to 0-4 at home and 2-5 overall.
