Matt Jones is headed to Augusta in a couple of weeks courtesy of an outright dominant showing this week at the Honda Classic. The Australian picked up his first PGA Tour victory in seven years at one of the most opportune times, shooting -12 and taking a comfortable five-shot win over the rest of the field as a result of a -2 round on Sunday.
Though the win is obviously nice, and a heap of cash ultimately comes with it, a trip to the Masters is perhaps the biggest thing he got from it. The 40-year old was forced to even scramble to make plans to make it to that event, as he previously would not have been qualified. Now, though, he’s in, and you have to say he will have a decent chance at a green jacket if he can replicate the sort of form he displayed at PGA National.
