The New York Yankees just will not lose right now. Taking on the Kansas City Royals on the road on Sunday, they had an opportunity to not only sweep the series but also win their ninth consecutive outing. And they took that chance, getting two home runs from Aaron Judge along the way to record a 6-4 win. His two solo homers, one being the opening run in the first and the other being the closing run in the ninth, proved to be the difference-maker in the contest, though they did get help from elsewhere.

Down 4-1 in the fifth, Isiah Kiner-Falefa and DJ LeMahieu drove in runs. Then in the seventh, Judge grounded into an RBI before a Josh Donaldson fielder’s choice drove in another run and gave them the lead. Far from easy, but the Bronx Bombers got the job done. Elsewhere, the New York Mets also picked up a ‘W’ on Sunday as they took down the Philadelphia Phillies 10-6 on Sunday Night Baseball. The main story of the evening came from an unlikely pair of hitters racking up hit after hit as both Dom Smith and Jeff McNeil picked up four hits apiece in the extravaganza. Smith had three RBIs at the end of the game, and that could well mean he preserved his status on the roster for a little bit longer. With the win, the Mets moved to 12-7 on the season and remained well ahead in the NL East at this early stage.
