2018 was notable in the world of sports for a bevy of reasons, but one of them was the fact that Justify won the Triple Crown by taking home the Kentucky Derby, Preakness, and Belmont Stakes. However, according to the rules that were once set up, he could well have been disqualified.
According to reports, the horse failed drug tests prior to the running of the Derby. It’s reportedly scopolamine- a performance booster- that is said to have been in the system. Despite having a second sample, which also came up positive, the board decided not to do anything. They concluded that his food could have been contaminated, thereby allowing it to pass over without anymore fuss. Whether he was technically cheating or not might remain a mystery for some time now, and that is a shame.
