Kentucky Lose, Off To 1-3 Start

Jonathan Grant | December 7th, 2020

The Kentucky Wildcats basketball program has almost never been irrelevant. While you can’t say they are that this season, just yet, it’s starting to look like they may well be when it’s all said and done. Their loss today, a 79-62 defeat to Georgia Tech, meant they fell to 1-3.

It’s their worst start since 2000-01, and it comes as their second double-digit defeat to an unranked foe already. On top of that, Tech had lost both of its games before Sunday, losing to both Mercer and Georgia State, showing how much trouble UK appear to be in. The day’s biggest game, pitting #12 Villanova against #17 Texas, saw the Wildcats win 68-64 over the Longhorns. The other ranked teams, Texas Tech, West Virginia, and Michigan State got wins over unranked opponents.
