It’s always a shock, somehow, when you see a player that is still fairly young retire in the NFL. We have seen it more than a few times now, with the likes of Barry Sanders and Andrew Luck, most recently, bowing out of the game at an early age. Now, you can add Carolina Panthers linebacker Luke Kuechly to the list.
The 28-year old has decided to retire from the game citing that he can’t play the way he used to any longer. He’s had seven documented concussions in his career, though none of them have came since 2017. He was the 2013 NFL Defensive Player of the Year, so this is not an insignificant retirement at all. One has to wonder how many more players will retire early as more and more take the plunge.
