Since the 2008 US Open, Torrey Pines has become a whole new monster in the world of golf. Most of the time, events, apart from the majors, are won by ridiculous sums over four rounds. Not at this course, though, as Marc Leishman, this year’s Farmers Insurance Open victor, can attest to. Not anymore.
After being lengthened for the aforementioned US Open, the course has only allowed two players to shoot a 65 in the final round. And Leishman is now one of them having done so to win by one stroke over Jon Rahm at -15. Rory McIroy finished in second, while Tiger Woods, looking to go #1 on the tour in all-time wins, came up short by completing his round at -9 overall. It was his fifth Tour win, and it came on Australia Day, quite fitting for the Aussie to have done so!
