After Monday night, we are another step closer to knowing which team will claim victory in the 2021 NCAA Tournament. Two games took place in the Elite 8, and for the first time in the tourney, all of the chalk prevailed. Up first was #2 Houston’s 67-61 win over #12 Oregon State. The Beavers had been on such a run that some proclaimed them as favorites to defeat the Cougars, but in the end, Houston found a way to advance despite blowing a 17-point lead at one stage.
Marcus Sasser led the way for them with 20 points and Quinten Grimes had 18, with both struggling from the field. With their win, they will return to the Final Four for the first time since 1984. That is where they will be taking on #1 Baylor. The Bears took down the #3 Arkansas Razorbacks 81-72 in the ‘prime time’ game on Monday night to clinch their place. Macio Teague led the way for them with 22 points and the team as a whole nailed over 50% of their three-pointers in the contest. The win ensures the program of its first Final Four trip in 71 years. So, there will be two very hungry Texan teams clashing in Indy come Saturday; that much is for sure.
