The Atlanta Braves would be able to close in further on the New York Mets for the NL East lead, but the Mets have other plans. Following Saturday’s 4-0 win in Miami over the Marlins, the Mets have now taken five games in a row, keeping their lead in the division at three games over the defending World Series winners. Their latest win came courtesy of some excellent pitching from Carlos Carrasco and some fine hitting from Francisco Lindor.

Carrasco went 7.2 innings and allowed just four hits on the evening while Lindor doubled and homered to make sure the Big Apple club remained in front of the team from the ATL. Elsewhere, the Seattle Mariners got some bad news in the form of Julio ‘J-Rod’ Rodriguez going down to injury. However, they did get some good news in the form of his replacement, Abraham Toro. The Bull stepped up in a big way, pinch hitting for the superstar and driving in what proved to be the winning run in a 5-4 win over the Houston Astros in H-Town. Seattle remain 11 games behind Houston, but they are well within the Wild Card playoff race. And finally, we wrap up with the exploits of one Aaron Judge. He once again homered on Saturday, increasing his total to 42 on the season as the New York Yankees downed the Kansas City Royals 8-2 in an afternoon affair. The shot to right field is also the 200th of his career, making him the second fastest to reach that number of dingers. Only Ryan Howard, formerly of the Phillies, got to that number quicker, so the sky is the limit for the man with the gavel.
