Major League Baseball still doesn’t have a definitive plan for starting the 2020 season, but one thing is for sure: there are plenty of ideas being tossed about. The latest one, according to sources, would see the season effectively sliced into half, with each team playing just 80 games instead of the typical 162.
As part of the plan, teams would be playing ONLY the teams from within their own division as well as the same division from the alternate league. So AL East teams will only play other AL East teams and the NL East and so and so forth. Also being mooted in this idea is that the teams would play, when and where possible, in their home parks, allowing them to isolate as home with family. An increase to seven teams per league in the playoffs is also a possibility with this plan as well, so that may be an avenue the league uses to make a bit more revenue.
