While much of the out there regarding Major League Baseball suggests that a return to play is far from happening due to the owners and players squabbling, there does appear to be something they can agree to. And that appears to be regional scheduling. This idea has been floated out there before, but it is closer to becoming a reality now that it is later in the year- if only they actually play, that is.
The idea is for teams to only play teams from their division and also from the corresponding league. So, the NL East would play only NL and AL East teams and so on and so forth. No fans will be allowed, normal ballparks will be used, and there could be as many as seven playoff teams allowed in each round. We’ll see how it goes, but first they will need to reach an agreement on how many games are to be played. And that seems far off right now.
