Major League Baseball has been making changes to the minor league system for years now. It began with the end of the 2019 season in which the old system ended. That meant some 40 odd teams were left in the dust, forgotten forever. 2020, of course, was unique in that minor league ball was never played.

This year will be different as well, as MLB has realigned by regions. 120 teams will be involved, with two AAA divisions being included as well as three for AA, high-A, and low-A. Names have not been declared as of yet and some other specifics have yet to be ironed out as of yet, but it has to be seen as a sign of progress that we’re going to get actual baseball played at a more local level in a couple of months’ time.
