We need to come together in times like this, sure, but what the NBA should be doing to Rudy Gobert is, apparently, not going to happen. The French center, a member of the Utah Jazz, was the so-called ‘patient zero’ of the NBA. His carelessness, you can see videos of him making light of it, ended up passing the infection onto Donovan Mitchell and likely even more of his teammates.
It’s said to have created a rift between the two, and you can’t really blame Mitchell for that. At any rate, the NBA is going to allow an apology, that is probably not even heartfelt, to be enough. They will not fine, nor suspend, him for his actions, of which could have contributed to poor health for a less fortunate person. So, there is that. No fine, no nothing. Now he just has to deal with Mitchell and co., which could punish him much more harshly. 5
