The NHL, like everyone else in the United States in terms of sports, are trying their best to get back to playing. And as such, Commissioner Gary Bettman spoke out yesterday about the ‘hub city’ idea.
Apparently, that is still one that the league is embracing, and as such, he stated that eight or nine locations were the only ones that could hold as many teams (12) as needed. This is because they will need hotels, a big enough rink, and the ability to test as well. Without that, it’s impossible, therefore, we won’t be seeing play taking place in smaller venues. It’s being reported as well that a 24-team playoff is increasingly likely, so we’ll see if and when that is brought to the table.
