Heading into Game 3 in the NLDS on Thursday, most people were pretty sure that the Atlanta Braves and the Los Angeles Dodgers would be facing off against one another in the NLCS. That’s because each had taken Games 1 and 2 of their NLDS series. They each completed their sweeps, of the Miami Marlins and San Diego Padres, respectively, on Thursday to move on and clash with each other. The Braves got it done with another shutout, blanking the Marlins 7-0.
Six different hitters got runs across the plate, none of which came from homers, and starting pitcher Ian Wright threw six scoreless innings in his playoff debut to guide them to the win. They will face the Dodgers, who demolished the Padres 12-3 in Arlington. The damage was done in the third inning as four runs came across the plate following a well-intentioned error from Fernando Tatis, Jr. Justin Turner was the one to put them up for good, with a whole host of their stars contributing to the run total they eventually put up. Braves/Dodgers gets underway on Monday in Arlington.
