The North Carolina Tar Heels just can’t win a game, can they? Maybe that is exaggeration to a degree, but you can certainly make a claim that they don’t know how to finish off a game. Having lost to Duke after having them beaten twice, once in regulation and once in OT, a couple of weeks ago, they have now went and done the same kind of thing against Notre Dame.
The Fighting Irish were down 15 points to the Tar Heels with under nine minutes left in the going. But they were not able to hold on, going down in the end by a score of 77-76. Nate Laszewski made himself the hero, nailing a three-pointer with 1.8 seconds left, and in doing so he made it three losses out of four at the buzzer for UNC. The Heels got 23 points from Cole Anthony in the loss, though his late air ball definitely helped cost them a potential win, while the Irish got 20 from Prentiss Hubb. North Carolina have won just three of their 15 ACC games now and are 10-16, while the Irish are 16-10 overall and unraked.
