The Baltimore Orioles have not had the kind of season they would have wanted. Not by a long stretch. Ridiculed by many, labeled a ‘minor league team’ by some, and generally smashed around by anyone and everyone, they will have gotten some joy out of what took place on Wednesday night.
That’s because one of their own men- Justin Villar- would go deep to make history. It was league-wide history, as his home run marked the 6,125th this season for the entire MLB, but it was good history nonetheless for a team that’s had little going for it this year. The homer came in the seventh inning and it plated three runs as the Orioles took a 5-2 lead. They eventually would increase their advantage and hold on to win 7-3, ending a six-game losing streak in the process. For an awful season, it sure wasn’t too bad of night, especially against the mighty Los Angeles Dodgers.
