The Australian Open Women’s Final is now set, and it will not be an all-American affair. That’s due to the fact that Naomi Osaka took care of business on Thursday, sweeping legendary Serena Williams 6-3, 6-4 to book her spot in yet another final.
The 23-year old has now won three of four encounters with the 39-year old, and it means she has booked a rematch with the woman that helped her put on a thriller at the US Open last September. 22-seeded Jennifer Brady is that opponent following a 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 victory over Karolina Muchova in the other semi. Brady won the last game, an epic one that lasted 18 points, to seal what will be the first Grand Slam final for her. Now, she’ll try and exact revenge for the aforementioned US Open loss to Osaka, a two-time major winner herself.
