For the last month, the PGA Tour has put on plenty of captivating golf. There have been a surplus of contenders, particularly in the early rounds, that have created lots of intrigue, and the Rocket Mortgage Classic in Detroit this week appears to be no different. After Thursday’s opening round, we have three leaders that sit on -7, with Doc Redman, Scott Stallings, and Kevin Kisner tied.
There are then seven players that trail them by one stroke, with Bryson DeChambeau, considered by many to be the best player going currently, one of them. His first round was as can’t-miss as it gets, with him hitting bombs off the tee thanks to the added weight he gained during quarantine. He was just -1 after nine, but a -5 back nine put him in the hunt. And you’d be remiss to not make him favorite, even with the large group in contention (there are 13 players just two shots off the lead as well).
