Pastrnak Takes Pushes Bruins Past Philly, Blue Jackets Thump Hurricanes

David Pastrnak had quite the night on Thursday for the Boston Bruins as they took down the Philadelphia Flyers. It didn’t take him very long to make an impact, scoring twice in the game’s opening six minutes to give his team an edge over the struggling Flyers. However, Philly wasn’t about it make it easy on this particular evening. They responded with goals from Cam Atkinson and Joel Farabee in the second period to tie the game up and start us over where we began.

Unfortunately for them, though, the parity only lasted a short amount of time as Pastrnak scored his third to seal his hat trick just 1:45 after the equalizer had shockingly gone in. The score would remain the same, with Tuukka Rask returning and keeping Philly out the rest of the way, with Boston getting a fourth straight win via the 3-2 victory. Closer than perhaps expected, but the result is what they wanted regardless. In other action, the Columbus Blue Jackets got a morale-boosting ‘W’ over the Carolina Hurricanes as they hammered them 6-0 in Raleigh. Elvis Merzlikins saved all 31 shots he faced while Yegor Chinakhov found the net twice and Jack Roslovic added a goal and an assist to the cause. Columbus is hovering around the .500 mark and are 15 points back of Carolina, but this could do them a whole lot of good as they seek to get closer to securing a playoff spot.
