Phillies Defeat Pirates, Alcantara Posts Another Complete Game

The Philadelphia Phillies are playing as well- or better- than anyone at the moment, and Saturday saw them prove that as they made it six wins in a row by taking down the Pittsburgh Pirates 6-0 at home. Starter Kyle Gibson did a splendid job on the mound, pitching seven innings and allowing just six hits across those frames while JT Realmuto hit a three-run double in the bottom of the first and Nick Castellanos homered in the bottom of the third to conclude the scoring.

The loss is the seventh consecutive for the visiting Bucs while the Phillies continue to edge closer to solidifying a spot in the Playoffs via the Wild Card route. Elsewhere, Sandy Alcantara threw another complete game for the Miami Marlins as they took down the Los Angeles Dodgers at home by a 2-1 score. Alcantara had just come off his shortest performance of the season last time out, but he responded in a big way here by striking out and conceding just one run over the nine innings. Alcantara now has four complete games on the season. The loss snapped a three-game winning run for the Dodgers, but they remain ridiculously out in front of the NL West as they dominate the division and the league as a whole.
