Richard Childress will be an extremely happy camper at the way things turned out for his team on Sunday afternoon at Texas Motor Speedway. In a race that was, quite honestly, difficult to watch due to the lack of passing opportunities, it was all about one thing: location, location, location.
If you had track position, you had a chance to not only lead but pull away from the field. After a caution with around 30 laps to go during the drab 500-mile event, RCR’s teams, the #3 of Austin Dillon and the #8 of Tyler Reddick, used alternative strategy to take the lead. From there, no one was able to do anything with them despite multiple attempts. On the final restart with two to go, Dillon fended off his rookie teammate and took home his first win of the season, ensuring his spot in the playoffs. Joey Logano, Kyle Busch, and Kevin Harvick completed the top five as Dillon grabbed his first victory since winning the Daytona 500 in 2018.
