The biggest named free agent on the market in the NFL in 2020 has to be Jadeveon Clowney, yet he has not had the sort of demand for his services that most would have assumed he would have. Apparently, though, that didn’t stop one team- the Cleveland Browns- from putting in an excellent offer.
According to reports, the Browns made a substantial offer for the defensive end, as they have done plenty of times for other strong defensive players over the last few years, only to see Clowney turn them down in lieu of possible interest from others. The reports also speculate that he simply just isn’t interested in going to Cleveland, citing how much money he is turning down by doing so. And it makes perfect sense. If Cleveland is indeed that into him, so to speak, then they would be the, presumably, only team to court him so heavily. It must really not be all about the money in this case. Because if it was, he’d be a Brown already. Rumor has it he is looking for a number somewhere in the $17 million a year range, though, so it’s not like he will be hurting for cash.
