If 2020 proved anything, it was that the San Diego Padres are not scared to make a big move. Not at all. They made several in a shortened season in order to try and win right away, and that appears to continue to be their motivation as we approach 2021. According to the latest reports and rumors out there, the Chicago Cubs have been shopping pitcher Yu Darvish.
One of the teams he could land at, according to sources, would be the Padres. Darvish went 8-3 last season as he finished as runner-up for the NL Cy Young Award. He has three years and just shy of $60 million on his contract with the Cubs. The deal makes sense for the Padres due to the fact that they need a new arm as well as the fact that GM AJ Preller was assistant GM for the Rangers when Darvish started his MLB career in Texas.
