The New Orleans Saints came into Sunday’s NFC Wild Card affair with the Chicago Bears as big favorites to win. They were the #2 seed overall, after all, and they were coming up against a very inconsistent Chicago team. However, the Bears made it quite close throughout, only allowing the Saints to finally pull away late in the going.
New Orleans will face off with division rivals Tampa Bay and Tom Brady after their 21-9 in which Drew Brees threw for two touchdowns and Alvin Kamara ran for 99 yards and a TD. The defense was stifling throughout, allowing the Bears to pick up just 11 first downs and only 239 yards total. If not for a late TD as time expired, in fact, they would have finished with just three points on the board.
