Not everything is rosy in New Orleans, with news that the Saints’ head coach, Sean Payton, had contracted Covid-19. But they did make a move on Friday that might help position them better as contenders when the new season begins. Emmanuel Sanders signed on, reportedly for two years and $16 million (a bit of a theme now, isn’t it?).
A lot of this move has to stem from the fact that Sanders absolutely tormented them in the regular season for the 49ers. He had seven catches in a win for his team, totaling 157 yards receiving with a touchdown catch AND pass. That alone may have seen the Saints decide that if they couldn’t beat him, then they needed to sign him up to be a part of the team. It’s thought that he will be the ‘2’ behind main main Ted Ginn, though some doubt his consistency. We’ll see if he can do more of the things he did in that aforementioned game, or if that was just a standout performance that is not all too common.
