You can’t take away credit from Kawhi Leonard in regard to the championship that he helped bring to Toronto a couple of years ago. But sometimes you forget just how good the supporting cast was around him. While a lot of the focus was on Leonard, he did have help. One such helper was Serge Ibaka. The big man, according to sources, is now said to be heading out to Los Angeles to join the Clippers in order to do it all over again with Leonard.
It’s said the deal with be a two-year one and will be worth a total of $19 million as the Clips attempt to have a much better season than the one that played out in 2019-20. Ibaka is a big pickup after the Clippers lost Montrezl Harrell and JaMychal Green to free agency earlier this week. He’s coming off the back of his most prolific scoring season ever, so they will hope the 31-year seven-footer can bring some of that to the table in 20/21 and that he can help them put a stop to the likes of Nikola Jokic and Anthony Davis on the way to lifting a title.
