South Carolina Beats UConn In 1-2 Battle

Jonathan Grant | November 23rd, 2021

Monday was a big day in the women’s college basketball world as #1 South Carolina took on #2 UConn for supremacy in the Bahamas. And the game went the way the rankings had them, with the Gamecocks defeating the Huskies in what could be a preview of the Final Four by a score of 73-57. The big difference was made in the second half as the Gamecocks put their foot down and asserted themselves.

They outscored UConn 40-21 in the half and only allowed three measly points in the final quarter from the Huskies. They didn’t even concede a bucket in the last five minutes to underline their dominance late in the going. South Carolina’s top scorer was Aliyah Boston with 22 (along with 15 rebounds), but Zia Cooke produced 17 and Destanni Henderson recorded 15 to help out. The Huskies got 19 from highly-regarded Paige Bueckers in the defeat.
