Travelers Round 3: Todd, Johnson Shoot 61s

Jonathan Grant | June 28th, 2020

The last three weeks have shown us that the PGA Tour truly does have some of the most entertaining content in the world of sports, and that kept up on Saturday as two very opposing players went extremely low by shooting 61s to go to the top of the leaderboard. The leader after Saturday’s third round is Brendon Todd, a little known player, but someone that should be getting more publicity and recognition.

He’s had a great season so far with a couple of wins already, meaning this victory could well propel him to Player of the Year honors. Should he win, he’d be the first to grab three wins this season… but he does have a lot of work left to do. Dustin Johnson also roared into form with a -9 day on Saturday, putting him at -16, two shots back of Todd. Johnson has a win in 12 consecutive Tour seasons coming into this one, and he has yet to win one this year as of yet. He will no doubt be hoping to continue to keep pace with Tiger and Jack, and the only way to do it is to grab one. There are a number of others, too, that could make some noise, but the final pairing has a decided advantage ahead of Sunday’s final round.
