1st Down: The Connecticut Sun are onto the WNBA Semis in 2022 after they overcame a Game 3 against the Dallas Wings in enemy territory. It’s a tough task to take on an underdog that has home-court advantage in a decisive third game, but the run eclipsed them anyway, winning 73-58 thanks to a big second-half showing. Tied at the half, the visitors outscored their hosts by 15, including a 23-12 third quarter, in the second half to take command and pull away for a comfortable victory in the end. DeWanna Bonner led the way with 21 points while Alyssa Thomas chipped in with 13 to set up a clash with the Las Vegas Aces in the semis.
2nd Down: The PGA Tour is doing its best to retain its biggest names and best players, and they made some big announcements on Wednesday that they will hope helps keep LIV Golf away from some of their stars. The theme of it is that the Tour is going to be offering more money for more tournaments, upgrading some of them to ‘elevated’ status. This change does mean that the top players will be required to play in 20- not 15- tournaments a season, but most feel this is a step in the right direction for all involved as there is a bit of something for everyone within the changes. We shall see how it turns out and if its stops any others from moving to Greg Norman’s organization.

3rd Down: The Oklahoma City Thunder are officially in ‘worry’ mode. It might not be panic mode, but they will be worried about the status of top draft pick Chet Holmgren following a foot injury that will need to be evaluated that he sustained at a pro-am. The #2 pick appeared to injure his right foot, and the team will now be sweating over his fitness ahead of the season.
4th Down: The Los Angeles Lakers are doing everything they can to improve their team, and they are making a deal, reportedly, for Patrick Beverley according to the latest reports. Beverley is being sought after due to his ability to play solid defense outside and will be coming over, if the reports are correct, in exchange for Talen Horton-Tucker and Stanley Johnson. How this plays into the overall scheme of things remains to be seen, with Russell Westbrook still being shopped to other squads.
