1st Down: Anytime a big rumor comes out, fans are curious as to what the players involved might have to say. After reports came out stating that the Boston Celtics were interested in a possible trade for Kevin Durant with the Brooklyn Nets, we have to say this case is no different. Jayson Tatum, the leader of the C’s, isn’t too big on the idea of Durant coming in, stating “I love our team” and also indicating it wasn’t his decision on whether to bring him in or not. By the sound of it, Tatum would prefer to keep Jaylen Brown and co., and you can’t blame him after their run to the Finals this past season.
2nd Down: Julio Jones has found his new team. And it just so happens that Tom Brady has found a new weapon, too. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to sources, signed the former long-time Falcon on Tuesday to a one-year deal as he attempts to bounce back from a slow 2021 with the Tennessee Titans. Jones is a seven-time Pro Bowler, but he is coming off a year where he made just 31 catches for 434 yards. He had only one touchdown and he featured in only 10 games. The 33 year-old can be a game changer, but there are serious questions about his ability to do it consistently at this more advanced age.

3rd Down: The second annual WNBA Commissioner’s Cup is in the books as of Tuesday, with the Las Vegas Aces taking the title in a potential Finals match up with the Chicago Sky. The 93-83 win saw the Aces get 24 points from Kelsey Plum and double-double showings from both Candace Parker and A’ja Wilson, but the MVP went to Chelsea Gray following a performance that saw her record 19 points, five assists, and four rebounds. The Sky are defending champs, but they have struggled to cope with the Aces this term, and this outcome underlines that fact.
4th Down: Football might just be coming ‘home’ as they old saying goes. England continued their march toward the trophy on Tuesday as they hammered Sweden 4-0 at Euro 2022, setting up a clash with either France or Germany in the Final. Beth Mead scored after 34 minutes to give the Three Lionesses a half time lead before Lucy Bronze, Alessia Russo, via the most audacious backheel, and Fran Kirby assured the emphatic ‘W.’
