Two-Minute Drive: Reds Lose Despite No-No, Pujols Pitches

Jonathan Grant | May 16th, 2022

1st Down: The Cincinnati Reds have endured a tough start to the 2022 season, but things took another turn toward the ridiculous on Sunday as they somehow lost 1-0 to the Pittsburgh Pirates despite having allowed no hits all game long. The run came on a bases-loaded fielder’s choice, and it marks just the sixth time such an occurrence has happened.

2nd Down: Albert Pujols made his first pitching appearance in MLB on Sunday, giving up two home runs and four runs in a 15-6 win for his St. Louis Cardinals over the San Francisco Giants. Prior to the ‘close,’ he had two hits and an RBI in the game.

3rd Down: KH Lee repeated as the winner of the Byron Nelson Classic on Sunday, defending his crown by a stroke over Jordan Spieth after posting a 63 in the fourth round to surge to the lead. His day was highlighted by an eagle on the par-5 12th that allowed him to scoot away from the field.

4th Down: In the world of European soccer, a lot took place on Sunday. Manchester City came from behind to draw 2-2 with West Ham to make sure they remained in control of the English Premier League title race. In Italy, AC Milan won 2-0 over Atalanta to control their destiny heading into Italy’s Serie A final day. And finally, in Spain, the Barcelona women’s team finished off a perfect season in Spain’s top league by winning all 30 games. The 2-1 win concludes a campaign in which they scored 159 goals and only gave up 11.
