It’s not been a great season thus far for Barcelona, and that continued on Wednesday night in the UEFA Champions League as they traveled to Portugal to get hammered by Benfica 3-0. A third-minute goal from Darwin Nunez gave the hosts an early lead, and while Barca had some chances to equalize, they never looked the better team. Rafa scored a second for the Lisbon club after 69 minutes and Nunez added a second a penalty kick- to hand them a deserved win.
In other action, defending winners Chelsea were beaten in Italy by a 1-0 scoreline by Juventus as Federico Chiesa scored less than a minute into the second half. Manchester United got a come-from-behind 2-1 win at home over Villarreal. Paco Alcacer had given the Spaniards a lead after 53 minutes but Alex Telles scored in the 60th and Cristiano Ronaldo waited up the 95th minute to give his side a winner. Bayern Munich rolled to a comfortable 5-0 home win over Dynamo Kiev in the set of group matches as well.
