Two games took place on the ice on Sunday, and both of them ended in one-sided 5-1 results. The Las Vegas Golden Knights evened up their series with the Colorado Avalanche at two games apiece by that scoreline. Home ice has been a very welcome sight for them to get them back into it, and it was Jonathan Marchessault’s show on this day.
He scored a hat trick that included a first-period equalizer and a goal in each period to show the way. William Karlsson had three assists, one on each of Marchessault’s goals, as well. All of that after Brandon Saad’s goal is less than two minutes in had made the Avs look as if they might be retaking control of the series. Speaking of controlling a series, that’s what the Montreal Canadiens are doing with the Winnipeg Jets. Their dominant 5-1 win means they are up 3-0 and need just one more win in order to advance now. Joel Armia scored two goals while they were shorthanded and also produced an assist while goalie Carey Price kept up his form with 26 saves. The Canadiens can close it out at home in Game 4.
