Not all divisions are created equal in the NFL. That much has been proven over the years, but this year has been particularly brutal when it comes to the NFC East. So much so, in fact, that through 11 games the top team in the division has a record of 4-7. That team is Washington, who took care of business on Thanksgiving day by defeating the Dallas Cowboys 41-16. With the victory, it is two in a row for ‘the Football Team’ and three wins from their last five, two of which came against Dallas.
Though they have an unenviable match up with the Steelers next, they will at least know they have a shot at the playoffs despite their poor record. The Cowboys’ loss here was largely down to poor execution, with a couple of key turnovers and a fake punt that went awry helping cost them the game in the end. Antonio Gibson was the standout performer on the evening, scoring three touchdowns and rushing for 115 yards. Amari Cooper had a TD, on a 54-yard reception, and over 100 yards receiving for Dallas in the defeat that leaves them at 3-8. Even with that blight, they are still in with a chance given the ineptitude of the division as a whole.
