All good things, and the bad ones, too, have to come to an end. Unfortunately, that is also the case for Alex Smith with the Washington Football Team. The inspirational quarterback who had nearly lost his leg only to return this past season and start under center for the team has been released by them effective Friday.
Reports had indicated that this would be the fate of the veteran, but now that can be confirmed and made official. For the team, it was just a necessary move, as it frees up nearly $15 million in cap space for them to use to maneuver and address other issues on the roster. Smith hasn’t made his future plans known as of yet, but he has alluded to not being done playing just yet. Where exactly he could land is a huge question mark at this particular stage, though, it must be said.
