We’ve known for a very long time now that college sports are nowhere near as clean and sterile as they like to make them seem. We know athletes, at least the higher tiered ones, are making and being offered money. There have been, in fact, plenty of stories about lower tiered athletes also being offered money to play as well.
The latest allegations center around Zion Williamson, as court documents in Miami-Dade County indicate. According to them, Williamson’s former marketing agency is accusing him and his family of accepting bribe money from Duke and shoe companies. It’s stated clearly that his family demanded compensation for his services, which obviously is supposed to be a violation of NCAA rules. It would not be the first time nor will it be the last of this. Honestly, is this really that big of a deal? He played one season for the Blue Devils, and he could have lost his career when his shoe fell apart. Hopefully all this talk goes away… for good… very soon.
