The Milwaukee Brewers’ hopes of making their way into the MLB Playoffs in less than a month took a major hit on Tuesday night as Christian Yelich- their MVP candidate- went down with an injury in a 4-3 win over the Miami Marlins.
The information came out directly after the game, though the team said they were not sure if Yelich would need to undergo surgery or not. The incident that caused the injury took place in the very first inning as he fouled a pitch off his knee and then went, and stayed, on the ground for minutes. While the loss of Yelich is a big blow, the team did get some good news from it. Because of the victory, they pulled to within one game of the Chicago Cubs in the NL Wild Card race. Give and take, I suppose.
